Apiary is a media production company in Detroit, Michigan. We produce aesthetically compelling, humanizing documentary style stories.

Apiary aligns itself with businesses, non-profits and cultural projects that aim to improve the quality of life for Michigan residents. We are particularly passionate about telling stories that illuminate the resilience, inventiveness and integrity of Detroiters.

Andrea Claire Morningstar

Andrea has a BFA in New Genres from University of Michigan and an MFA in Film Production from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. Her work has been featured on This American Life, PBS and has screened in festivals and art galleries internationally. She has taught filmmaking at The University of Missouri – Columbia, Interlochen Center for the Arts, the Maine Media Workshops and Detroit Future Schools. Jamie has a degree in Television Production from Columbia College Chicago. Jamie cut her teeth working for a large Detroit communications firm, and fine tuned her film production skills at the Motion Picture Institute of Michigan. Since then she has worked on numerous feature narrative films ( “Another Happy Day”, “Family Weekend” and “A Late Quartet”)  documentaries (Morgan Spurlock’s “We the Economy”) and promotional works for The Michigan Economic Center and New Michigan Media.
